Marshal Dillon (Dillon)

Owner: Ashleigh Mix
DOB: 1/1997

Dillon is an unregistered Appaloosa gelding who has been owned by Ashleigh since May of 2005. Dillon came to Ashleigh as a very green 8 year old from a lady in Sanbornton. She got him at 4 years old and he wasn't even halter broke yet! Dillon was her dream horse but unfortunately, medical reasons left her unable to work with him as much as he needed; so she made Dillonthe tough decision to sell him. To this day Ashleigh still writes letters and sends pictures to his previous owner to keep her in touch and updated on his life.

Dillon is ridden mostly hunt seat and he loves to jump and trail ride. Ashleigh is also working on teaching him western (which he LOVES). They have also been dabbling in Cow Work. Dillon has a very large personality and a very big 'appytude' as well. He has taught Ashleigh many lessons - both good and bad - but despite this they make a great team and progress further every year.
*NEWS* - On November 6, 2010, Ashleigh rode Dillon at a walk, trot, and canter bareback and bridle-less for the first time ever. You can see the video here.

HHF Dun Harley Nothin' (Harley)

Owner: Amanda Mix
DOB: 04/14/03
AQHA reg#4359582
Sire: Mr. Leo Bar Dusty 3804798
Dam: Miss Harlan Jackie 3798677

Amanda met Harley on a bitter cold December day. Jason and Amanda went to Pond Hill Ranch in Vermont upon advice given by Ashleigh’s trainer. The herds of horses available at the ranch were awe inspiring. Harry brought them into the main barn and Amanda immediately saw Harley. His little head and cute quarter spot on his lip made him stand right out. He seemed to be the perfect horse – young, sane, Harleysmall, and not white! Several weeks later Amanda returned to the ranch with Ashleigh’s trainer and took a second look at Harley. The trainer made Amanda ride every horse in the barn but she still liked him best. He was the nice little guy she was looking for. Harley came to Highland Hills in January of 2008. Upon arriving it became clear they were wrong about the 'little' horse. Amanda’s new 15.3h horse towered over poor 14.2h Adam!

Harley and Amanda have already clocked some great hours, some interesting learning experiences and definitely plenty of fun times.  He is everything she had been looking for in her new partner and they have clicked perfectly. Amanda looks forward to many more years of great riding together.

Chalice Fortunately Topic (Mocha)

Owner: Jean & Bethany Clarke
DOB: 5/30/1996
AMHA reg# 140561
Sire: Hollybrook Topic
Dam: Prairiewoods Memory

Mocha (a 14 year old Morgan) was the only horse Bethany looked at that actually moved when she rode him, which she took as a good sign. He was a surprise present because she never expected that her dream to own a horse Mocha would actually come true. On their first ride together, Mocha took Bethany over a 2ft jump! They have been working together for three years now and Mocha goes English most of the time. Jean, Bethany’s Mom and Mocha’s benefactor, enjoy trail riding where they can relax and have a good time. Mocha and Bethany like to do pretty much anything together. Their favorite activities so far have been riding to music in English handiness classes, riding in a parade dressed as farmers, exploring the wilderness, attempting small jumps, eating, and going fast. Bethany has found that Mocha has many moods and the natural position of his ears is back. Mocha and Bethany have learned a lot about each other and they will continue to develop their bond.

Diego

Owner: Lauren Emond
DOB: 1/1/1995

Diego is a chunky, black and white paint gelding that came to Highland Hills Farm in July, 2011. Lauren had to take time off from riding when her previous horse, Molly, was unable to ride anymore. She knew the first time she saw Diego that he would be a perfect horse to get her back Diegoin the saddle again, and that he would be able to take her to new levels of riding. Lauren has been riding him western and he enjoys going out on the trails with buddies from the barn. Diego was very “round”, and has been on a diet since he got here. He’s doing great with his weight loss, but still has a way to go. He should be ready for some serious riding in the spring.
