HHF Chapter Two (Adam)

Owner: Amanda Mix
DOB: 04/07/81
IAHA reg# 3A 237244
Sire: Surfin ARH#56686
Dam: Mirages Sure Gamble IAHA #2a 62786

Adam was Amanda’s first horse she personally owned. Although involved with horses most of her life she had never owned her own until Adam. Adam was a rescue horse. He had been owned by a gentleman who raced him and rode him hard. When Amanda first got him he didn’t know how to walk, his slowest gait was the typical Arab jig. He was tremendously claustrophobic and not at all comfortable around men.  AdamHowever, with time and care he became her soul-mate. They rode everywhere together, even doing light endurance. He loved going out on the trails and was always game for exploring.

Sadly his years of abuse have caught up to him and after 15 years of loyal partnership, he was officially retired in 2007. Every once in a while he and Amanda will go for a quick jaunt, and he is sprightly as ever…..that great Arabian heart never stops!

*RIP Adam* 04/07/81-04/22/11
In February of 2011, Adam "told" Amanda that it was time and he was ready to leave earth after 30 years. Amanda asked him to please be patient until the winter passed and ground thawed. He was, and is now running in the fields above watching over the farm.

Lady Skipa Star Chex (Molly)

Owner: Lauren Emond
DOB: 04/08/87
AQHA reg# 2732228
Sire: Harbor Super Chex
Dam: Dots Star

Molly is the first horse Lauren has ever taken full responsibility of. Molly is a 23 year old QH mare who Lauren's aunt found for her in 2008. The first time Lauren went to visit Molly they learned that Molly had been a broodmare most of her life. She had been bred 3 times at the farm and many times before that. Lauren's first impression of Molly was that she was so helpless and very out of shape from all the breeding. The last time she wasMolly bred was when Molly was 20 years old - about a year before Lauren got her.

Molly is in great shape now and is currently ridden western, but was previously ridden English and she and Lauren are loving their new experience riding on the trails with Amanda, Ashleigh and Haley. Although Lauren has not had Molly very long, they have competed in two shows together and are active in 4H. Lauren has been riding since she was about 5 1/2 years old and both Lauren and Molly have been able to teach each other and grow together since they became partners. Previously Lauren took lessons from her aunt with Molly which helped to form an even better bond between the two of them.

*RIP Molly* 04/08/87 - 07/15/11
May you gallop pain-free with Adam and all the other horses in Heaven's fields.
